Lighting Up One Litho At a Time

Based out of North-West Florida, we're a small startup focused solely on bringing the 2D to the 3D. Lithophanes caught our eye as the perfect way to bring pictures to life in a fun and mesmerizing way. Currently working towards expanding our operation, the litho technology is a mixture of price-competitive manufacturing and just plain brilliance that makes it totally possible to offer custom works at more than reasonable rates. We plan on expanding not only in size, but total capability, hoping to inevitable offer more complex works; excited for all this industry has in store!

Our Process

When we started Scan To Scale, we knew we wanted to take large ideas, shrink them down and offer something tangible and exciting! Originally planning on creating accent pieces and collectibles, 3D printing was the obvious choice for prototyping and realizing our ideas. Countless tested models and many hours later, we chose the lithophane technology as the most consistent way to produce a meaningful product without the bulky setups and long production times.

Where We Start

The humble beginning: Preparing the image! Using several types of software, we're able to transform a 2D image into 3D machine code, ready to be printed as many times as needed! It's here we make adjustments to enhance image quality as much as possible without sacrificing the crucial details that define each litho!

Layer By Layer

The exciting part: Additive manufacturing! With the image now sent to the FDM printer, we stand back and admire the machine at work! As the printer seamlessly adds layers to the litho, it cycles through several filaments corresponding to a subtractive primary color, resulting in a beautiful pigment using absolutely no ink!

Finishing Touches

The last step of our process: Assembly. It's here we slide and fasten the pieces into their final form, ready to be displayed and enjoyed! We take care of everything to ensure the least amount of hassle on your end, delivering a complete product, not confusing parts and pieces!
